How to use Google Authenticator on the web?

Google Authenticator on the web usually refers to an online tool that can generate TOTP verification codes in a browser. It works in a similar way to a mobile authenticator app by using your 2FA secret key to calculate a 6-digit dynamic code.

To use it, open the security settings of the account you want to protect. Look for options such as “Two-Factor Authentication,” “Two-Step Verification,” or “Authenticator App.” Most platforms provide both a QR code and a manual secret key. Copy the 2FA secret key, paste it into the online generator, and the current verification code will be generated.

An online Google Authenticator tool is best used for temporary checks or when you need to verify whether a secret key is valid. For important accounts such as email, banking, crypto exchanges, or work accounts, it is safer to store the secret key in a trusted authenticator app, password manager, or offline backup.

If the generated code does not work, check whether the secret key was copied correctly, whether extra spaces were included, whether the code has expired, and whether the system time is accurate. TOTP codes usually refresh every 30 seconds, so submit the code as soon as it is generated.
